====== Requesting software installation ======
You may install software in your own home directory if the following conditions are met:
  - You will be the only person using the software
  - You know how to install the software 
  - You have enough space in your home directory

If these conditions do not apply, please request software installation by way of the CHPC's [[https://users.chpc.ac.za/helpdesk|helpdesk]].  When requesting software installation, try to answer these questions:

  - What is the homepage of the software?
  - What will you be using the software for?
  - How many people are likely to use the software? 
  - Is there a currently installed version on the system?
  - Do you have a preferred version?
  - Do you have a preferred compiler?
  - Does the software have or need a GUI for pre-processing or post-processing?
  - Are there dependencies that we need to be aware of, and do these dependencies need to be of a certain version?
  - Is there any other information related to configuring the software that we need to be aware of?
  - Are there any licensing issues or restrictions that we need to be aware of?
