Solver development using the open source OpenFOAM® finite volume tool set

The OpenSIM initiative are pleased to announce an intermediate OpenFOAM® workshop in Pretoria from 20 to 24 May 2013:

Overview and structure

OpenFOAM® is an open source finite volume tool set which is extensively used for numerical flow modelling. The course is aimed at providing an introduction to the use of the OpenFOAM® finite volume tool set for developing customised solvers. The course consists of technical presentations in the mornings, followed by a practical workshops in the afternoons.

Requirements

Please bring your own laptop with Linux and OpenFoam® installed. Please note as this is not a user workshop and it is expected that attendees should be able to set up and run test cases as described in the user manual.

The course will be limited to 10 people. Positions will be reserved on first come first served basis.

The OpenSIM initiative will run an OpenFOAM workshop in Pretoria from 2 to 5 April 2013:

Short overview:

The course is aimed at providing an overview of the finite volume approach for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and applications in the open source tool set OpenFOAM®.

The course will consist of technical presentations in the mornings, followed by a practical workshops in the afternoons.

Requirements:

Own laptop with Linux and OpenFoam® installation along with basic competency.
