You may install software in your own home directory if the following conditions are met:

1. You will be the only person using the software
2. You know how to install the software
3. You have enough space in your home directory

If these conditions do not apply, please request software installation by way of the CHPC's helpdesk. When requesting software installation, try to answer these questions:

1. What is the homepage of the software?
2. What will you be using the software for?
3. How many people are likely to use the software?
4. Is there a currently installed version on the system?
5. Do you have a preferred version?
6. Do you have a preferred compiler?
7. Does the software have or need a GUI for pre-processing or post-processing?
8. Are there dependencies that we need to be aware of, and do these dependencies need to be of a certain version?
9. Is there any other information related to configuring the software that we need to be aware of?
10. Are there any licensing issues or restrictions that we need to be aware of?
