When would you use -q smp in your .pbs file as opposed to -q serial or -q normal?

The queue must match the number of cores and nodes you request:

• serial queue: If you want to request fewer than 24 cores, eg select=1:ncpus=12 then use -q serial
• smp queue: if your job needs a whole node, ie select=1:ncpus=24  then use -q smp
• normal queue: for a job that requires from 2 to 10 nodes, eg select=2:ncpus=24 then use -q normal
